Karmann-Ghia de México currently produces soft tops for the New Beetle Convertible and delivers them just in time to Volkswagen de México for the final assembly.
During the transition period, the soft top for the New Beetle Convertible is being produced in parallel in Osnabrueck, Germany and in Puebla. In order to ensure a smooth transfer of the production from Germany to Mexico, many employees at Karmann-Ghia de México were trained for several months at the Karmann headquarters in Osnabrueck, Germany. In addition, all the major parts of the production equipment have been made and tested in Osnabrueck.
