Karmann-Ghia do Brasil Ltda. was founded in 1960 in Sao Bernardo do Campo as a fully owned subsidiary of the Wilhelm Karmann GmbH, and began to produce body shells for the Karmann-Ghia 143 Coupe on a Volkswagen platform. In 1962, it installed a forging press and began manufacturing tools.
To date, it has assembled 85,000 vehicles and made parts for renowned auto makers including DaimlerChrysler, Fiat, Ford, Scania, Volkswagen and Volvo.
