Pure High-Tech: The paint shop
|
In our paint shop, we employ a "dip and spray"- method to degrease the bodies-in-white and to cover them with a zinc- phosphate coating. In a special bath, they are coated with a primer. Then the bodies-in-white are dried in an oven at 180°C. Afterward, the seams are sealed, the protective undercoating is applied and the sound insulation is installed.
After an electrostatic paint coat and another course in the oven, the finish coating is applied in a state-of-the-art paint shop. First, a base coat is applied from a ring main system with 32 colours and a special colour system. After an intermediate drying course at 75°C, the final clear varnish coating is applied to the bodies.
Depending on the client, the cavities are sealed with different materials and in different processes, such as the time- spray method or the hot-wax-flooding method. Now the body is ready for the final assembly.
