The design & engineering department is characterised by the close cooperation of different fields of work. Experts from body-in-white construction, add-on and functional parts, and electrics all work on joint projects – from new design of complete vehicles or modules to production support and facelift. Existing and proven series concepts are tested and optimised in the project pre-development phase. Special attention is directed to the development of light-weight structures of multi-phase and martensit steel as well as pressure casting parts made of aluminium and magnesium. Methods like IHU – hydro-forming, sheet hydro-forming, roll-forming and laser-welding are applied to the development of new carrier structures of steel and aluminium, among others.
With the most modern CAD-systems and simulation software like CATIA V5, Auto Form and FMEA, we analyse the feasibility of our design/engineering concepts. The process certainty attained by applying these methods already results in a great maturity of the first prototype.
